I have a 10-year-old collie and she has developed arthritis in her back and legs, specifically the front, right leg. Someone told me to give glucosamine tablets, like from the grocery store to help her joints but I’m wondering if this is safe. I can’t afford any trips to the vet and her condition isn’t that serious but I can tell it’s really uncomfortable. I’m just wondering if there is something I can do for her. She’s definitely aging but otherwise she’s very energetic and seems to be happy.
um…about the salmon oil I’ve always been told salmon in poisonous to dogs, much like chocolate.
I have a german shepherd husky rott mix I got from a shelter when he was younger. he is now getting up there, (10 yrs) and because of his large size, his joints are hurting him. he does not like to eat the glucosamine pills that i have, but he will eat them if you put them in a little hot dog. I (his owner) have always made him home made dog treats, and I was wondering if I could make the treats and grind up the tablets and put them in the treat mix. I would have to be careful and find out how many Milligrams of glucosamine and chondroiten there is in each treat, I have no trouble with that, but I was wondering if cooking the tablets makes the glucosamine and chondroiten useless. anyone know? thanks!
I presently take one tablet of each a night. They are: Omega 3 fish oil, garlic oil, glucosamine chondroitin, & a weight loss tablet with apple cider vinegar, kelp, lethicin, and B-6. Is it safe to take these together?
My dog, Pogo, just turned 10 and she’s starting to form arthritis in her hind left knee. We already have been giving her glucosamine tablets (Rejuvenate from Banfield) and they seem to work, albeit only slightly. The vet recommended that we consider the possibility of giving Pogo Adequan injections. Of course she told us that it works amazingly, but I wanted to find out from other pet owners exactly what sort of results we should TRULY expect. Any horrible side effects? Does Adequan only help with the pain or does it help the arthritis from worsening? I would really appreciate hearing from you guys. I can’t stand to see my dog get any worse and if this really is a miracle drug, then I want to get on it right away!
