Elation Glucosamine Drink- safe for cats?
I think my cat has arthritis or joint pain in her back legs. She can hardly jump on things- hardly eats- and her back left leg stays at a weird angle when she walks. She is almost 12 yrs old. I dont have money to take her to a vet so im not sure exactly what it is
My mom has been taking this drink called Elation for her joints and has been working great for her. They do have this stuff called Syn-flex for animals and its glucosamine but most likely costs $$$..
Do you think its safe to squirt some elation in her mouth every day?

Um, NO.
Cat meds for cats, human meds for humans.
Never give your pets human medicines without checking with your vet first, the amt of glucosamine in the drink may be too high for your cat. there is a product called Cosequin for cats that is available at petsmart for about $25. You can also find it on ebay pretty cheap (I paid $18 for 80 pills). They are capsules that you can open and sprinkle on canned food and it works really well. My cat has arthritis in his shoulder and his limp is almost completely gone since starting him on the cosequin. It took about a month for it to fully kick in, but now he is doing great..he is even jumping again.
NO human medication is ok for a cat unless your vet says it is. Take the container the Elation is in down to any vet clinic and have them look at the ingredients and tell you if it’s safe or not for a cat.
I would not give anything to the cat without approval frist from the vet. You can do too much damage to an old cat’s internal organs by giving something toxically dangerous to them.
