You seem pretty involved with his feeding so I don't know if I can help, but if hes already thin and picky switching foods may only cause more problems down the road. I assume you already know to slowly mix any new food in with the old over several weeks, but can't help mentioning it.

His body and palate are used to the old food, if hes getting the chicken wings then hes already getting more protein and fat than most dogs. Can you add glucosamine over his chicken?

If you do change foods, don't overlook dental care. If he is open for it, I would feed the chicken in the AM and either brush or give chews to remove the plaque. His dry food should be enough for the rest of the day.

As for how much bone is too much, I couldn't tell you. I'm still not comfortable with the idea of feeding dogs a raw diet, but understand the theory behind it.

I have dogs with joint issues and just wanted to let you know of a product that I think has worked great and we sprinkle it on the food and my dogs like it so much they would eat it plain. Nzymes, it is for joints and other things. The down side would be it took about a month for it to build up and work but ever since then my dogs have been great. If I run out and have to go without they start to limp again. Then you can serve what ever food he likes. My dogs have lived past there range, I think in part to the Nzymes. There is a website by the same name with a lot of info. But I buy on a different cheaper one.
