Glucosamine supplements for dogs…are mine ok?
I know nothing really about glucosamine supplements but I have a 2 year old mutt and her hips click when she sits and I have noticed she hesitates on the stairs. I spoke to the vet and he told me I can try glucosamine supplements.
The ones I started her on have 500mg glucosamine
400mg Chondrotin sulfate
50mg MSM
50mg Vitamin C
15mg Zinc
6 mg Hyaluronic acid
5mg maganese
2mg copper
That is per tablet and she is 40lbs and gets 1/2 tablet once daily.
Is this the recommended amount and if not what is..Thank you!
The name that i see on the bottle is 21st Century pet health.
She is also taking fish oil pills and co-Q10

Check the label it should tell you?
Was this supplement bought for dogs or humans?
This has worked wonders for my dog who was so lame the specialist wanted to perform surgery on both his front paws when he was only a puppy, removing his growth plates, my gut instinct told me not too & I put him on (http://www.chemistdirect.com.au/agility-joint-care-p-14873.html?osCsid=0e10512c50cd01dc1687696134910ee2) this product it also has green lipped muscle in it & we also supplement his food with a fish oil.
Sorry can’t help more specifically but hope you find this info useful.
Glu/Chon is a very safe supplement. It should be given twice a day. Half a tab is fine.
My vet told me to go to the store buy the glucosamine that humans take and give it to my dog. She loves it and she feels better since she has been taking it.
The dosage is fine but did your vet tell you the first 2 weeks you should give double the dosage twice a day to get it built up in the dogs system and then give the recommended dose religiously? If you miss a day you have to start all over.
