Is there something wrong with my Diet/Fitness plan?
Please don’t try to tell me that I should take x pill so I can loose y pounds in z amount of time. I don’t want a quick solution to weight loss because there isn’t one, so don’t waste your time posting a link.
I have been a casual bike rider for a while, but this year I want to enter a bike race/charity ride (you wear numbers, somone gets 1st, but it’s not a real race). I really want to do well, but I don’t think what I’m doing is working:
As soon as I get up I run between 20-30 min depending on when I get up. I come home for lunch and on Mon, Wed, Fri I do strength training and Tues/Thurs I run for 20 min. I am mostly seated at work so it make me feel better and I hope it’s helping me out.
I ride my bike and watch a different bike video every night, one for basic training, one for hill work, and one for distance/tolerance on M-Thurs. On Fri I run a 3k.
Saturdays I get out and ride about 50 miles, increasing my distance with time and weather permitting.
Sundays I rest; however, if I feel too sore or if I’m in pain on other days I will stop and not push myself until I feel better.
I’m eating 5 small meals a day so I don’t have the urge to binge eat and consume about 1,600 calories. Mostly whole grains and paying attention to the amount of protein, calcium, and vitimins that my body needs. I’m not carb loading except before my long rides on Saturday. I make sure to take a multi vitimin so that I don’t miss out along with some Fish oil and some Glucosamine/Chondroitin. In addition, I’m drinking as much water as I can tolerate to stay hydrated.
I just don’t feel like I’m doing as well as I should. I don’t feel much increase in my fitness after 7 weeks. I was alredy fit and running daily, but I thought I’d be a bit more fit at this point. I also haven’t really lost much weight. Am I over doing it?
What am I doing wrong? Ideas/Suggestions
Thank you for your time, it’s much apperciated!

IF you are more fit when you start, its going to take quite some time to see any significant changes in your body. Like for me, if i did that at 6ft 237 pounds i’d probably drop 10 pounds the first week. For you however, you will probabaly drop 10 pounds in 10 weeks. Its just a matter of if your leaner, its harder, if yoru overweight, its easier. generally.
Your doing alright. I would consult with your doctor though and let him knwo what your doing. He can give you the correct calories you should eat, fats, proteins, etc and tell you if you need to do more less or take a break.
Good luck! See ya at the beach this summer
