My b/f took glucosamine sulphate supplement which caused him 2 have severe back pain. He's in agony! Know why?
My boyfriend does a lot of weight lifting and decided to take glucosamine sulphate for joints. After 3/4 days of taking them he began to get shoulder pains. He stopped taking the supplement and is still suffering. He now is kept awake at night with severe back pain and shoulder pain. Went to GP who just said see how you go after a couple of weeks and come back which is no help. He had acupuncture which eased the pain for about an hour but went back to being in agony. We did a bit of research and discovered that you shouldnt take the supplement if allergic to shellfish and he is allergic to mussells. But this does not seem like an allergic reaction. Also i think he may be diabetic as for the past year i have never known anyone to urinate so frequently. He gets up about 3 times in the night and every hour or so in the day. When he drinks a lot he urinates every 10/15 minutes!!! Can anyone advise as to why his pain is happening only after taking glucosamine sulphate! Please, he is agony!

There is nothing in Glucosamine that should be causing this type of reaction(pain). Sounds to me like he was already in the midst of an injury when he was prompted to take it. I don’t know why his GP did not order X Rays or MRI since he is a weight lifter but maybe he feels that he has just torn or pulled something. But even still, he should have only asked him to wait a couple of days to see him again. You may want to reschedule an appointment with him sooner.
It truly sounds to me like your b/f has ruptured a disc, to bring on that type of agony, and the taking of glucosamine is just a coincidence.
I hope he feels better soon.
