She’s a 12 year old collie / black lab / whippet cross breed. Generally in good health but she’s been slowing down for a year or two now, and is often stiff and sometimes struggles to climb on the sofa.
My friend (who is a trained Vet) advised me to use Glucosamine Sulphate, Evening Primrose Oil, and a Multi Vitamin supplement. He also advised me to use the Holland & Barrett versions as they are much cheaper!
The trouble is, I’ve bought the GS in 1000mg tablets, the EPO in 1000mg tablets, but my friend is away for a couple of weeks, so I’m a little bit stuck.
I hope someone out there can help me…..!
I have a 10-year-old collie and she has developed arthritis in her back and legs, specifically the front, right leg. Someone told me to give glucosamine tablets, like from the grocery store to help her joints but I’m wondering if this is safe. I can’t afford any trips to the vet and her condition isn’t that serious but I can tell it’s really uncomfortable. I’m just wondering if there is something I can do for her. She’s definitely aging but otherwise she’s very energetic and seems to be happy.
um…about the salmon oil I’ve always been told salmon in poisonous to dogs, much like chocolate.
my aussie cattle dog mix just turned 2 and for a couple of weeks she has been stiff on her right back leg and will sometimes limp after a walk, theres times when she wont chase her ball.
we talked to the vet and he said he wasnt concerned but i think somethings wrong. we’re considering buying her some glucosamine tablets to help.
any suggestions?
she isnt over weight at all , very lean and not built like most cattle dogs, this is becuase she’s mixed with kelpie ,border collie and possibly fox terrier
my 12 yr old mixed female ( border collie/g.sheppard) goes thru spurts where she will eat good for couple days and then go 2 or more days without eating?? Is she just fussy?
She gets high end food (Canidea. no cheap stuff) and some wet.. a multi vitamen and glucosamine tablet every day but thats not the problem.. I think she just is not hungry all the time, What do you all think????
