My Lab often seems sore after a long exercise, he is older (5-7yrs), he is also very big (110lbs), so we decieded to buy Glucosamine and Chondroitin chewable tablets made just for dogs and we give him the daily recommended dosage. We also picked up a bag of Dogswell Happy Hips. My question is, can a dog get too much Glucosamine and Chondroitin? And will it effect his health negatively?
Add: He only gets 1 of those Happy Hips as a treat everyday.
Mups Pup: Our vet only recommended the G and C tablets. We recently picked the HH at the local groomers and haven’t asked yet. He is 102lbs, and is a great weight for his bone structure. He’s very tall and long, much bigger than your average Lab.
Sorry, meant 110lbs and Mups MOM!

What is a safe dose? I went to petco and petsmart and near all the bottles for this mixture of medicine says either 1/2 tablet to 1 tablet per 40lbs of weight.

My dog is a Pomeranian at 7lbs. I’ve been told it would be a good idea to put him on glucosamine and chondroitin for the prevention of arthritis.
He :)

The MG’s were glucosamine 500 and chondroitin 400 on most of the labels.

Mom has been using Glucosamine and Chondroitin tablets and Elations brand Glucosamine and Chondroitin drink. But she complains the pain has not gone away in her knee.

On gnc site, there was Wellesse, but does it work?
