My fifteen month old female rotweiller was recently diagnosed with hip dysplasia. If anyone has any suggestions on how to help her recover from this condition. I don’t want her to have surgery as she is too young & it may not work. I have put her on glucosamine tablets and starting an anti inflammatory injections this week. It is only a mild case and the vet said it can be controlled and not get worse. We put her in our pool and let her swim as there are no hydrotherapy places around our area. I have spoken to so many vets and they all say different things. Surgery is not an option right now as it is not that bad. Although she is limping and struggling to get up, she is still able to walk. I walk her every night and massage her. People have told me they have had to put their dog down but there is absolutely no way I could or would do that. She is literally my best friend. Please help
It was actually our neighbors that gave her to us as they were going to sell her. They bought her from a top breeder- or so they say- for their young daughter without even researching about these dogs. Once she started growing and they realized how big she would become, they no longer wanted her. So I took her. She has now become a family member and I can’t even tell you how much I love her and have cried over seeing her like this.
She can get up but not like she us too, obviously. It takes her a while to walk up stairs but we have been recommended not to let her walk up large flights of stairs. I have taken her to an animal hospital as well as three vets and all have said it’s not serious enough for surgery. I just want her to get better.
And I never said I wasn’t willing to get her surgery. I have the money. I wouldn’t get an animal if I wasn’t able to pay for medical costs. I’ve been told by several vets that it’s not that seriousas yet.
There is absolutely NO WAY in hell I’m getting her put down. She can still run and jump and I will do whatever I possibly can to help her.
Pretty sure I said I’d get her the surgery. Open your eyes and read what I said before you call me selfish buddy. FOUR vets have told us that she does not need surgery as she can still run and jump. So don’t call me selfish. I put my dog before
Myself actually. And I do have the money. If surgery was 0,000 I’d pay it.
Do you have arthritis or know someone with arthritis?
I was recently diagnosed with arthritis & I have a muscle spasm that causes neck pain. I went to a chiropractor & he was able to help with my neck pain, but now my arthritis is bothering more. They sold a drink with glucosamine, chondroitin & MSM:

I don’t want to keep on taking pain killers & actually sometimes they don’t help, so I bought vitamins at the store with glucosamine, chondroitin & MSM which was cheaper than the drink (but my prescription for pain killers is free since I have no copayment). Do you know if these vitamins will actually help my arthritis or am I just wasting my money?
I was asking about the weather because sometimes I hear people say they can tell it’s going to rain because their bones ache, but I myself don’t notice that, I hurt everyday. I just was wondering why people say it if it isn’t true.
It is an over the counter chewable tablet for Healthy Bones and joints. It is after hours and the vet hospital are money grubs and you cant get past the secretary if you call them they just tell you to come in and it is 0 office visit. Since it is an over the counter suppliment should I take him to the vet tonight?
There are no warnings on label but is it better to be safe than sorry?
Ingredients are: Glucosamine Hydrocloride, Dextrans, Stearic Acid, Sodium Ascorbate, Silicon Dioxide, Dried beef liver, Brewers Dried Yeast, Manganese Sulfate, Bromelain, Fish Oil, Dried Whey, and Rice Brain.
I think my cat has arthritis or joint pain in her back legs. She can hardly jump on things- hardly eats- and her back left leg stays at a weird angle when she walks. She is almost 12 yrs old. I dont have money to take her to a vet so im not sure exactly what it is
My mom has been taking this drink called Elation for her joints and has been working great for her. They do have this stuff called Syn-flex for animals and its glucosamine but most likely costs $$$..
Do you think its safe to squirt some elation in her mouth every day?
