What is the best way to get ready for college volleyball?
I am going to be playing for a small college in the fall. I am wondering what the best way to prepare for practice this summer will be. Could someone please provide me with a somewhat of a detailed workout plan and some guidelines for a nutrition plan. I have bad knees. Should I be taking any vitamins or something like glucosamine? Also, would you suggest drinking drinks such as whey protein to help recover after workouts. I have about 3 months until a team camp, and I’d like to start preparing for it and other volleyball programs that will be taking place this summer. I’ve heard that P90X is good, but I have attempted it a few times and it always bothers my knees.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
God Bless

I would suggest training by playing beach volleyball. Jumping and landing in the sand has a much lower impact on your knees, but you get the benefit of practicing all your skills in a competitive arena.
As far as chronic knee problems go, ice and rest are the basic treatments. Have you ever been to a chiropractor. A lot of knee issues are the results of previous ankle injuries that healed incorrectly and the stress has been displaced to the next joint: the knee. A good chiropractor will be able to identify if you have any alignment problems and make the necessary adjustments.
I say you practice for about 2 hours a day or two. Don’t ever stop working though, but don’t work to hard. You should look up exercises for you knees. Bad Knees = Bad Game. Being a volleyball player this is just my suggestion
