What's the difference in Human Glucosamine and Dog Glucosamine?
My two dogs are at an age where Glucosamine will be beneficial to them. One dog has a limp once in awhile and the other is slowing down. I went to the Pet Supply to find that Glucosamine for dogs costs + for a bottle of tablets! I get Glucosamine for me at Walmart for . I’ve compared the labels of both and found ZERO difference. I ground some up in my coffee grinder and added it into the dogs’ drinking water and within two days, both are playing and running like 2 year olds again. So I doubt there’s any difference. What do you think? Any vets want to weigh in on this? My vet thinks it’s great and if they don’t have any allergies, just continue.

While I am no veterinarian, I have done extensive research into this subject. And I’ve found that there is no difference real between human glucosamine and glucosamine for dogs. Except maybe the flavoring as most of the dog glucosamine is beef flavored.
I’ve had great success with liquid glucosamine on my dog’s meals. It goes with anything that I give her. And it’s something different for her too.
The other thing that I found helps is arthritic massage, this helps break up any scar tissue and loose up her joints. There are plenty of videos on this subject.
Only the labeling is different.
Its the same product.
My vet always has me get those kind of products at Costco- meaning the human products
Glucosamine is bought and sold as a powder and does not have a separate category for humans or dogs. Manufacturers may use a lower strength of glucosamine, typically 90% vs the 99% that Nutra Paws uses. Nutra Paws uses the 99% Glucosamine hydrochloride, which is what veterinarians and pet owners prefer.
There is no difference, I would say go for it.
