Zubrin for Arthritis??
Has anybody seen good results with Zubrin? My dog has arthritis in her low back and four herniated disks. She is on half a tablet of zubrin once daily and Glucosamine chondroitin. My vet has been doing blood work regularly and her kidneys and liver are handling it fine. It does seem to help but it’s not made a real significant improvement. She’s only been on it 3 weeks so I guess I’ll give it more time. This dog is only 6 so I want to kep her healthy! Thanks!

I work at a vet clinic, and we have a few dogs who are on Zubrin, and they have seen great results. The good thing about Zubrin is that it is much easier on the liver and kidneys than some of the other Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory drugs, like Rimadyl. I would say give it a little more time, if you still aren’t seeing significant improvement, let your veterinarian know, so they can either change her dosage, or try a different medication. Good Luck!
Tepoxalin (Zubrin) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat the pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences depression, loss of appetite, diarrhea, an increase in drinking and/or urination, jaundice (e.g., yellowing of the gums, skin, or whites of the eyes), vomiting, bloody or black stools, fast or heavy breathing, changes in the skin, incoordination, or behavior changes while being treated with tepoxalin. Do not give with other NSAIDs (e.g., aspirin, etodolac (EtoGesic), deracoxib (Deramaxx), carprofen (Rimadyl)), or steroids (e.g., prednisone, prednisolone, dexamethasone, triamcinolone). There is a greatly increased risk of stomach ulcers if used with these medications.
